A Bibliography of References Pertaining to Prokem

Prokem is a slang language that is spoken in Jakarta, Indonesia, mainly among young people. It resembles the English-language Pig Latin, in so far as it has many regular transformations of base-language words (e.g., English “scram&rduqo; becomes Pig Latin “amscray&rduqo; and Indonesian “diam&rduqo; becomes Prokem “diokam"). Languages that are based on regular transformations of existing languages are often called “play languages&rduqo; or “ludlings". Unlike most ludlings Prokem has different methods of transformation that are all used together and there are also non-transformed words such as acronyms that are used in Prokem speech.
